Costs of Racing and Suggested Upgrades

Thank you for considering joining our racing fun!

this page is related to our original class, the dirt late models. Other classes will be similar.

Cost list

Prices are subject to change.

Ready to run late model. Comes complete in either red, black or clear. New $210, used $189. Not sure yet? Rent a late model for the day, complete and ready to run. $25

Transponder. Attaches to car so you can participate in races and have your laps counted by the computer system. $35

Recommended upgrades…………

BMRC front bumper. This bumper will provide additional protection to your car’s body. We strongly recommend going with an aftermarket bumper because the body is the most expensive wear item on the car. There are a few different front bumpers available, the one we use sells for $13

The battery charger that comes with the car is very basic. It will get the job done but a hobby grade charger should be your 2nd upgrade. Any decent multi charger will work, we recommend the B6 based charger as a simple way to get started. This unit will charge the NIMH battery that’s included with the car along with a lipo battery, which you should consider for your next upgrade. About $40

LiPo battery. Lithium polymer batteries are an easy way to have consistent performance. Getting the most from your stock NiMh battery is somewhat of an artform, running a lipo eliminates this hassle, lipos are also cheaper than the factory NiMh batteries. BigMooseRC has worked with a lipo manufacturer and we supply them with the correct connector so they are plug and play with your race car. $15 ea, three or more $13.50 ea.

Voltage regulator. If you are going to run a lipo in our standard classes you need a voltage regulator. This helps keep the playing field even and nobody will have a voltage advantage. The voltage regulator regulator installs between your battery and your speed control. Again, modified by BigMooseRC and is plug and Play.Only one regulator is needed for your car. $12.

Other Upgrades—————–

These upgrades are not necessary but can be a fun way to fine tune your car to suit your driving style.Any 1RC brand upgrade is allowed except for the 10K motor.

Soft tire set. Some racers like the way the soft tires feel on their car, set of four tires$21on black rims, or $25 on chrome

Adjustable steering rod. The adjustable steering rod connects between your steering servo and your tire allowing you to change its length to set the toe in or out of your car. Toe in means the edge of the front tires are pointing towards each other were to out means away from each other. Generally, toe out can give more aggressive steering while entering corners, while toe in will make the car more stable around the track. $10

Adjustable radius arm. This replaces the left rear radius arm on the car and will angle the rear end to make the inside wheelbase shorter than the outside wheelbase. The effect can be higher corner speeds. $12

Different weight springs. 1rc has three different spring weights you can run on your car. Again, they may help adjust to your driving style. Weight refers to the tension of the spring, they come in a kit of springs with a soft, medium and hard.Medium springs is what comes stock on all four corners of your car. Rear spring assortment $10Front spring assortment $10

Threaded shock bodies. To add tension to adjust the handling characteristics of the stock shocks you add plastic spacers. Using the threaded shock bodies you can infinitely adjust the spring tension by simply twisting the shock collar. They come in a pack of four, our late models typically only use these on the rear shocks so split a pack with your buddy. Silver or blue threaded shockbodies $26

Short spring kit. These work great with the threaded shock bodies, using these can slightly lower your rear ride height which can be a good tuning tool. If youuse these short springs with the stock shocks you will need a stack of spacers to make up the difference. $12
